DriveNote ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome extension.
Our Privacy Philosophy: We believe your notes are YOUR data. We don't collect, store, or analyze your notes. Everything you create stays on your device or in your personal Google Drive.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
Account Information:
Google email address (required for subscription verification)
Subscription Information:
Subscription status (Free or Pro)
Subscription dates (start, renewal, cancellation)
Stripe customer ID (for billing management)
That's It. We do not collect or store:

❌ Your files or attachments
❌ Your browsing history
❌ Your personal data beyond email
❌ Your usage patterns or analytics
2.2 Where Your Notes Are Stored
Free Plan Users:
All notes stored locally in Chrome's secure storage on YOUR device
Nothing is sent to our servers
Your data never leaves your computer
Pro Plan Users:
Notes synced to YOUR personal Google Drive account
We do not have access to your Drive files
We only facilitate the sync between your Extension and YOUR Drive
You maintain complete ownership and control
2.3 Automatically Collected Information
We collect minimal technical data for service functionality:
OAuth authentication tokens (temporary, for Google login)
Subscription verification requests (email + subscription status check)
We do NOT collect:
Analytics or usage statistics
Error logs or crash reports
Location data
Device information
Browser history
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your email address ONLY to:
Verify your subscription status (Free or Pro)
Process subscription payments via Stripe
Send update and account notifications
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 What's Stored Where
On Our Servers:
Your email address
Subscription status (Free/Pro/Cancelled)
Stripe subscription ID
Subscription start and end dates
On Your Device (Free Users):
All your notes, stored in Chrome's local storage
Extension settings and preferences
On Your Google Drive (Pro Users):
All your notes, in a DriveNote folder YOU own
You have complete control and can delete at any time
4.2 Security Measures
We implement industry-standard security:
Encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS)
Secure OAuth2 authentication
No storage of passwords (Google handles authentication)
PCI-compliant payment processing via Stripe
Minimal data retention (only email + subscription status)
4.3 Data Retention
Active subscriptions: Email and subscription status retained while active
Cancelled subscriptions: Data retained for 90 days for reactivation, then deleted
Your notes: We never store them, so there's nothing to delete on our end
Free users: Stored locally until you uninstall
Pro users: Stored in YOUR Google Drive until you delete them
5. How We Share Your Information
5.1 We Do NOT Sell Your Data
We never sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
5.2 Service Providers (Minimal Sharing)
We share your email ONLY with:
Stripe (Payment Processing):
Email address
Subscription status
Payment information (you provide directly to Stripe, not us)
Purpose: Process subscription payments
Google OAuth (Authentication):
Temporary authentication tokens
Email address (to verify your identity)
Purpose: Allow you to sign in with Google
5.3 Your Notes Are NOT Shared
We never receive your notes
We never transmit your notes to our servers
Pro users: Notes sync directly between YOUR Extension and YOUR Google Drive
We act only as a facilitator; we don't see the content
5.4 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your email and subscription information ONLY if required to:
Comply with valid legal obligations
Respond to court orders or subpoenas
Protect our legal rights
Prevent fraud or abuse
We would notify you of such requests unless prohibited by law.
6. Your Rights and Choices
6.1 Access and Control
You have complete control over your data:
View Your Data:
Email: The one you used to sign in
Subscription status: Visible in Extension settings
Export Your Notes:
Free users: Use the export function to download notes
Pro users: Access files directly in your Google Drive or use the export function
Delete Your Data:
Uninstall Extension (removes local data for Free users)
Delete Google Drive files (Pro users)
Disconnect Services:
Disconnect Google Drive via Extension settings
Revoke OAuth permissions in Google Account settings
6.2 Marketing Communications
We may send update message related to DriveNote and your account including:
Subscription confirmation
Payment receipts
Subscription expiration warnings
New feature update and training related messages
7. Google Drive Integration (Pro Users Only)
7.1 How It Works
When you connect Google Drive:
You authorize DriveNote to access YOUR Google Drive
Notes sync directly from the Extension to YOUR Drive
We facilitate the connection but never receive your content
You maintain complete ownership and control
7.2 Permissions Requested
We request these Google permissions:
userinfo.email: Verify your account identity
drive.file: Create and manage files DriveNote creates
drive.metadata: Read file metadata for sync
documents: Create and edit Google Docs
calendar.readonly: View calendar events (for calendar widget)
calendar.events: Create calendar events
spreadsheets: Create and manage spreadsheets
8. Cookies
8.1 No Cookies
DriveNote does not use cookies. We use Chrome's storage API to:
Store Extension settings locally on YOUR device
Cache preferences
Store notes (Free users only, locally)
9. Children's Privacy
DriveNote is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
If we discover we have collected email information from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
